Legal Counsel (32-40 hours)

What can you expect as Legal Counsel?

As Legal Counsel, you will be part of the Legal Affairs (JZ) team, which is part of the Finance & Control (FNC) department. The team consists of six legal counsels and a subsidy specialist. Your goal is, together with the team, to advise on contracts, tenders, subsidy schemes and forms of cooperation. In addition, you offer legal support to all departments within the organisation.

You are closely involved in the negotiations surrounding the realisation of pioneering national and international Deltares projects. You have frequent contact with our project leaders and with Deltares' partners and clients.

The working environment makes your job special. As an independent applied knowledge institute in the field of water and subsoil, Deltares works on innovative solutions. This often raises new legal risks. You make the legal translation and ensure that we can limit these risks by finding practical solutions. You formulate concise, pragmatic advice and contract texts that are easy to understand, even for non-lawyers. In this way, you contribute to the solution of social issues.

Your main tasks are:

• Advising on and drafting (commercial) contracts , (inter-) national subsidy schemes and partnerships, also in the field of consultancy and software contracts;
• Standardising legal documents and processes;
• Advising management, unit management and project leaders on a variety of legal issues;
• Creating internal legal awareness within the organisation.

Your place of employment is our campus in Delft.

• Your salary and grading, depending on education and experience, is up to € 7,089 gross a month for a 40-hour working week;

What do we expect from you as Legal Counsel?

• You have a completed legal Master's degree;
• You havea minimum of five years of relevant work experience in assessing (inter-) national contracts, preferably gained in a project-driven and technical services work environment;
• Your oral and written command of the Dutch and English languages is excellent and you have good communication skills;
• Knowledge of and experience with one of the following areas of law is a plus: intellectual property rights, software licences (free and open source), subsidy regulations;
• Good command of French, German and/or Spanish is an advantage.
