We are looking for an Artificial Intelligence (AI) Support Officer to support the Working Group II of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and its Technical Support Unit (TSU). The AI Support Officer provides support in applying Artificial Intelligence to compile and review the Working Group II (WGII) products. The application of AI is intended to enrich these report preparation processes in various ways:
You provide AI support by selecting and testing relevant AI algorithms and packages. You prototype their application, and guide authors in their use. You are responsible for the procurement, configuration, maintenance, back-up, security and modernization of the AI packages managed by our TSU. You design, test, and validate custom machine learning algorithms for the IPCC drafting process, using techniques from current scientific literature. This work seeks to fulfill the IPCC's specific requirements and uses established practices and research in the field. AI support may also be arranged in the TSUs of the other IPCC Working Groups, and you will maintain close working relationships with these colleagues.
You also assist the IT officer based in Singapore with procedural and infrastructure activities. Such as supporting the preparation, review and completion of the reports, in particular by liaising with the ICT unit at Deltares and assisting TSU staff in the Delft location.

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) recently initiated its Seventh Assessment cycle. The Working Group II Technical Support Unit (TSU), which provides the scientific, technical and organisational support of the activities and products of the Working Group focusing on the Impacts, Adaptation and Vulnerability of Climate Change, is co-located at Deltares in the Netherlands and at the Singapore Management University in Singapore. Due to the international character of the vacancy, willingness to travel internationally to provide IT infrastructure support at international meetings is a must. Basic understanding of purpose and functioning of IPCC (or similar organizations) is an asset.
This is a fulltime fixed term contract at Deltares for the duration of at least 3 years. Parttime contract is negotiable, subject to flexibility and minimum level of commitment.
